Hi all,
First year breeding, just been thrown these. Am I right in thinking three good ones and six slugs? Any ideas what might have caused so many?
Thanks!

No egg expert at all,but have you handled the eggs?
Not a breeder yet myself but I believe the best way to check is to candle the egg with a flashlight and check for strong veins and an embryo
As Taylor notes, best thing to do is candle them. If their are veins they are viable. But I can tell you by eye alone the top six are slugs
I think you may have answered your own question there.
First time breeders typically will throw slugs in their first clutch. There are other factors such as what temp the female was kept at during follicular development, how much she weighs, what and how often she eats, and how old she is. Same goes for the male too.
But as for this clutch, I do believe those top 6 are indeed slugs, and the bottom 3 are fertile.
