Why are there so many dots on this excrement? Is it some kind of disease? From the ball python.
How long have you had your snake? Are there any other issues in behavior, bathroom habits or feeding?
That’s actually urates. So like pee. It can look many different ways. It’s can even look almost like crystals, be more liquid or be green or blue colored sometimes.
I wouldn’t worry too much over the spots. Depending on how long the urate was in the enclosure they can have spots like that.
I would just make sure to monitor your snake regularly for any odd behavior or changes in the actual poop part of the excrement. If the urates continue to look strange and the snake is getting loose stools that is more of a concern.
There’s nothing wrong with snakes. No emaciation, no vomiting. There’s nothing wrong with snakes. No wasting, no vomiting. But his appetite is not very good. I’ve never seen so many spots before. This time the full spot made me notice it.
The last meal was on October 20, when a 74-g mouse was eaten. The weight of a snake is 568 grams.
I would definitely try to see if you can get him eating well. Has this been since you received him?
If he’s in a large enclosure he may not feel comfortable. You can try adding more decor or hides that he can just barely fit into to help him feel more secure.
Bigger hides look more comfortable to us, but ball pythons tend to like smaller spaces to wedge into. They like to ambush food from the hide spaces so if you are feeding him in the open spaces, you can try while he’s hiding.
Edit: the meal size is good. You can try up to 90g pretty safely if he’ll take it. As long as he’s eating every 7-14 days that should be okay. If its less often I would consider trying small changes to see if one helps him feel more comfortable and gets him eating
Do you mean that it is because of tension and the environment is a little big that it produces this kind of performance?
Its current environment is 30cm * 80cm.
I raised it for about six months. He’s a little timid, I try to give him some room to escape, and sometimes he’s afraid of light. I need to give it a dark environment at the time of feeding before it will eat.
Yes. As funny as it seems, if he was raised in a tub setting which is usually smaller and like a burrow or den, that can make him more shy in a larger and brighter space.
Some snakes can definitely thrive easily with more space after they’re a few months old, but for ball pythons it can affect them differently.
Some ball pythons will also be very picky about food and will only eat one color of rodent.
Ball pythons do tend to hunt more at dusk or early before dawn, so it’s definitely better to feed them in the evenings for most owners. Making the area darker is a good thing to do.
So there seems to be nothing wrong with this excrement, right? Is it just because the snake is timid and nervous that it will be discharged?
Without any other symptoms I would consider it normal.
It seems a bit large for a 600g snake, but BPs don’t tend to poop as often as some species so he could have just built up a lot of urine solids too. I sometimes see larger urate stones when they shed
Just make sure he has water all times and he should be fine. And try to get him eating better if he isn’t already
I see what you mean. I’ll try to feed him a mouse a night later to see how it goes.Thank you very much for your reply and explanation. Thank you again.
