Automatic Misting System Recommendations + A Small Introduction

Hello! Before I get onto my question, I suppose I’m a little overdue on an introduction. I’ve been ghosting around the forums in favor of any actual interaction for quite some time now. There’s not too much to say about myself; I own a personal collection of reptiles, mainly geckos, and am slowly expanding into colubrids and pythons. I ultimately plan to obtain and possibly breed emerald tree boas & green tree pythons, although that would be much into the future. Anyone here is free to call me Poii.

Now, what better way to establish myself than in the form of a question? I’m looking to install an automatic misting system for my geckos, preferably one that can do multiple cages. I would also prefer to have one that runs on a reservoir rather than one that needs to be hooked directly onto a faucet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m all for a DIY project, but a premade system wouldn’t be bad either. Bonus points for any premade systems where I’m able to switch or add off-brand nozzles.

Ah, I’m also open to new lighting suggestions as well. The lights I have now do beautifully with my bioactive enclosures, but they need to be manually turned off/on and can’t be put onto a timer. If anyone knows a nice amazon brand or something similar, let me know. I’d love to have ones with built in timers or that do well with some sort of timer extension/plug-in.

Thank you!

Welcome! We hope you can find the time to visit the community more often! I don’t have much experience with auto-misters, but I was actually planning on bringing this up later as well so this will definitely help me too!

What lights do you use? Maybe pictures of the plugs and brand names? Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome!
I’m not actually sure of my current light’s brand, likely some sort of off-brand considering I bought them all off of amazon. Each of them are a set of twin strip lights with a usb end that plugs into a converter and then into a power strip.

What geckos?

And we use Mistkings, can use other hose, nozzles etc. and the starter does 10/12 vivs we’ve found :relaxed:

Ohh, I’ve heard of them before! I’ll go check them out.
We plan to install the system for our gargoyles & cresties.

That’s what ours are on! :relaxed:

I checked it out and its seems like it’ll be a nice fit for me, so I’ll probably settle with Mistking’s Ultimate system. What settings do you keep your Mistking on for your crested geckos?

Usually comes on 3 times a day and goes off for around 20 seconds I think it is!

Mistking is my recommendation to, I don’t have one yet but I plan to get one when I need it.

You could get smart power strips and set them up as timers for your lights.

We use this cheap one from Amazon. Works like a champ and you use whatever container you want to use with it. We use a 1 gallon plastic bottle.
