Hii, just wanted to post pics of the first cluch of eggs Ive ever hatched. They are so stinking cutee🥰 They are about 3 months old and growing like lil weeds🥺. Also was wondering if the full pin looks like it has fts, I believe their dad might have had it and Im new to the hobby and didn’t notice at the time☹️ the father was a friends and im not useing him to breed anymore🙌
It looks fine to me! I don’t even think babies can get FTS tbh, since FTS is mainly considered to be an environmental issue, it usually happens when the gecko sleeps with its head down, with no support for its tail so the tail flops over. It is not known to be genetic, and is considered mainly cosmetic, though some believe it could cause issues with defecation and egg-laying in really bad cases due to a twisted hipbone, so it’s best to try and encourage the gecko sleep in a different position by adding more stuff to the tank. If that doesn’t work or it’s already pretty bad, it might be a good idea to make it drop its tail, just to be safe, though i’ve only ever personally heard of twisted bones happening in animals that also had MBD issues. Regardless, FTS on its own is not something that makes the gecko unable/unethical to breed
Thank you!! I thought it could be passed to babies from a video i watch that quickly went over fts and was more of a breeding guide. Quickly learning that i should probably rewatch everything again and maybe expoler some more breeders videos, i thought i went over everything and learned everything already covering them (i spent momths researching before i bought a wholesale group) but it seems theres just so much that no video covers everything in in full or im just really slow:sweat_smile:
Would definitely recommend reading the Foundation Genetics guide on LMreptiles’ website as well as check out ACReptiles’ website more in depth if you haven’t already - both have good info on genetics, and ACReptiles has some decent guides on health and breeding (: But definitely “shop around” so to speak as much as you can though, it’s rarely a bad idea to get a few different view points.
Yea acreptiles is where i bought wholesale babies but i did all my research before i found him and he didn’t have a YouTube which is what i was useing for most of my research but ill be sure to go read the care sectios. Thank you for the the tips and the info🫶
Babies look ok,
And babies CAN get FTS. It’s not passed on from parents though.
Best best if put them on glass upside down, so facing the floor, and go to move tail over head to see if stays there.
