Baby Regal Jumping Spiders

Babies have arrived!

Any advice would be appreciated as this is my first time having baby spiders

What I usually do is leave them be until they start to leave the nest, then i collect them out of the enclosure into a large communal cup. Then i’ll feed and mist them in there until they are big enough that they start to eat each other, which is when i separate them into smaller individual cups.
I’m about to have jumping spider babies too after a good while of not having babies!

Thank you! That’s what I’ll do. Once they’re in individual cups can I rehome them? I don’t know anyone who wants one yet but I’m trying

If all else fails I have a local shop that will take them

Also if you’re in a place where they’re native you can release them around your property and house. Free pest control!

My babies are currently hatching! Got some “eggs with legs” now!

Unfortunately they aren’t native here. Omg so cute! They darken in color pretty quickly. I stopped counting at 100. I’m hoping they cannibalize that number way down.

Ooh they’re mobile now!

I mean as bad as it sounds you can just leave them together to eat each other as long as you want until you have the number you want. Just remember that a lot of them will die so maybe save more than you think you should, that’s why they have so many in the first place!

I have a wild P. johnsoni who has decided to make her nest behind the door to my gas tank in my car. I see her every time I have to fill up. She’s been there for a few weeks and I haven’t seen any babies yet, but she’s put down a huge amount of silk, so I assume she’s got an egg sac in there somewhere.

I’ll try to get a picture next time I need to put gas in the car. I try not to disturb her unless I have to, since I end up ripping some of her webbing when I open up the door to the gas tank.

I also have a false widow who lives in my side view mirror.

These are the things that happen when you never wash your car. :joy:

I love leaving them at my window. Spiders > Bees
