Ball python temporary enclosure

Hi. So i adopted my champagne female from a pet shop. They included a lamp, the enclosure, heating pad, water bowl, etc. I am using this temporarily because i ordered an enclosure from black box, while I’m waiting shes still in her enclosure from the pet shop. I fixed it up a lot more to make her comfortable. Sorry for the long rant my question is the heating lamp gets everything too hot, what can i do or what do you suggest to fix this problem

Just use the heat mat and not the lamp. You don’t need 2 heat sources

Edit to add: temps should be 86 to 88 with basking spot no higher than 90. Humidity 50 to 60 percent.

The heat mat is not heating up properly. I used my temp gun and its about 78 on both sides

A picture of the setup is helpful. How deep is your substrate? What type of mat is it? Heat lamps dry out the air as well

As an aside… Champagne are a spider complex morph and can be wobblers. I would take the first couple of weeks to see how your snake manages navigating small obstacles and climbing situations before adding too much that she might have a bit of trouble with.
I’m assuming that the cage you’re getting is a 4x2x2 and would have some climbing space though so feel free to correct me on that! Lol

I use coco coir mixed with coco chips.

I use tubs and heat mats so tanks are a bit foreign to me. What kind of heat mat do you have?

Zoo med. Right now warm side says 82 and cool side says 74. My humidity gets super high in there at night too, is that normal?

Do you mist the tank? Does it have a full screen top? I don’t see any condensation on the glass. How large is the water bowl? This doesn’t make any sense to me

Screen top (I was using foil tank because in the day time one side gets dry 40% . No misting. Also small water bowl.

Ok so try using the foil on 1/2 of the half of the screen top. Do you live in a high humidity climate? That can make a difference

Looks like that enclosure is going to be a nice one

I have used Zoo Med. If you just had plugged it in and set the thermostat it will take a while to heat the surface of the substrate from the bottom up so it should be hotter than 82 degrees by now

Well you have good products. It takes a bit of tweaking in different environments. But you should see better temps and humidity soon.

I hope so. I’m just happy shes ate with me twice already. No issues. They said they had her on live mice and i bought f/t the second week and had her and warmed it up. She ate like a champ. I do want to end up trying to switch to rats, but I’m not sure when i should do all that.
