Ball Python with Lump on Neck (Vet Seen)

Hi guys,

our Clown Ball python girl has developed this soft lump on her neck. She is mouth breathing every so often.
She is slithering around and I think she is trying to stay stretched so she can breathe better.
We have called the reptile vet, and had an appointment early this morning.

Its not fluid around the heart, not an obstruction or stuck object… At the moment there is no puss and so less reason for an infection but we can clearly see that her windpipe is under alot pressure and that is why she is stuggling to breathe. Anti inflammatory medication has been given, and we have to give it daily and by friday if there is no improvement we will head to the university animal hospital for an endoscopy

Just incase anyone goes through the same thing, will keep updating. If anyone has ever gone though this please, we would love your input

Thank you all already for your replies.

Unfortunately, the only other case of a snake with a lump like this that I have seen ended poorly.

I really hope your little one does well.
How quickly did this develop?
You said there wasn’t any pus…did the doctor try taking a sample to send out for cancer testing?

It does still seem awfully close to her heart. I’d really consider the endoscope sooner than later. She’s already giving you every sign that she is uncomfortable from what you’ve said.
Maybe try calling the university hospital and asking availability and cancellation options so you can make sure she can see them sooner if it doesn’t improve by Friday.

I have no helpful advice, but I’m hoping for the best outcome here. :crossed_fingers:t2:

Oh man this is very unfortunate! I agree with @armiyana that this doesn’t look good. And yes since she appears to be uncomfortable I would definitely try to move up the endoscopy to asap……

I am so sorry for her and I hope the best.:heart:
