Beardie Brumation questions

So as it is winter here I am aware that most Bearded Dragons will hunker down for brumation.

However as me and my husband (the owner) are worried about our Beardie going into brumation too young. She is 6 months old and we read that they should not be brumating until they are 12 months, but our Beardie has been noticeably much less active these past few days than she usually is.
She shows no sign of illness or anything but she is avoiding the warm end of her enclosure (around 90-95°F) prefering her hammock on the cool end (76°F) most days. She still eats for us (Dubias, BSFL, Superworms) but she’s been showing less interest in her BSFL and Superworms that are fed to her 1x a day for 5 days. We offer her mixed greens and slivers of yellow squash but she shows very little interest in that too, only eating little bits.

We give her warm soaks 1x a week (Tuesdays) but we are trying to avoid disturbing her too much while she is showing this inactivity.

Is there anything we should/shouldn’t be doing during this period? Should we be trying to prevent her from brumating since she’s too young? Or should we just leave her be?

Sorry about all of the questions
I haven’t owned a Beardie since I was a small child and my hubby is a first time reptile keeper so we just want to make sure we are doing the right things for our girl and this whole brumation thing.

Crappy lighting photo for tax lol

Edit: Update She’s back to her usual self today. I realized that while she was behaving like she was brumating these past few days it was also pretty rainy and dreary outside, I wonder if maybe there was something about the weather other than it being cold out that was affecting her… maybe barometric pressure changes? Today its been really bright and sunny out with little cloud cover and she’s very energized acting like her chaotic self again.

Ok so my beardie breeder friend on CB told me when I had my rescue dragon that as long as you offer them water and food once a week you can just leave them be. Oberon brumated for several weeks.

As far as the age goes, imho, I believe your girl knows what she needs to do so I would not worry too much. Plus she is a good weight so that’s an advantage as well.

Ty so much Caron!

My hubby was so worried about her, I had to reassure him that she is just going through her natural brumation. If anything does come up out of the ordinary though he is ready to take her to the vet.

Whenever we do feed her she does go bask for about 30 minutes to an hour so she is getting proper digestion going. We soak her to make sure she isn’t becoming constipated and to make sure she gets her hydration and she still takes Dubias pretty readily, its just the BSFL, Superworms and greens she turns her nose to. We got her a low watt CHE and a small space heater running in the room her enclosure is in so it doesn’t get terribly cold at night. Outside of that room and my dedicated reptile room our home gets frigid during the winter unfortunately :grimacing:
