What’s the best substrate for a leopard gecko
That’s a huge area of debate for leopard geckos. In my opinion, it depends on their age, health, housing, and how and what you feed them. I use paper towel, but like I said, it’s a hot-button topic in the leopard gecko hobby.

Paper towel is my preference since it’s easy to clean, doesn’t grow bacteria, and it’s very safe. Other materials like tile could work to avoid impaction. Loose substrates aren’t recommended due to the risk of impaction and injury.
