Biological Canvas 2022 Breeding Season Clutch Photos

Thank you Riley

Yellowbelly Blackhead Dreamsicle Male

Just went through his second shed. Very impressed with what BH brings to the table in Dreamsicle combos. Crazy striping and deep color.

Some of his attributes are similar to my favorite Pastel Dreamsicle in my last post but the depth of his colors are on another level. I love the “flaming” look you get with patches of varying oranges.

Thanks guys!

Here’s some new pics of the one I think is YB Confusion Dreamsicle. Looking great around 250g!

This little one has been a struggle!

I could not get it to eat for quite a while after hatching. I was just about to resort to assist feeding when it took its first live prey, a very small ASF. Still refuses standard rats and mice and is only taking ASF.
In the egg I thought it was a standard lavender albino but after it hatched it was apparent that it is a high pattern dreamsicle. What is this little one!?

The pairing was BH Confusion Lav Het Pied x YB Pied Het Lav.

I can say with certainty that there is no YB. I’ve had one opinion from an experienced breeder that he believes it is just a very unusual standard Dreamsicle. While another one thought it is a Confusion Blackhead.

It has a very washed out head, no typical blushing that you see in standard Dreams. Blackhead pieds often have this lateral “flaming” with concentrations of orange like it has. It’s YB BH Dream sibling I think there’s strong indicators for BH but it doesn’t look like just a BH Dreamsicle either. They often have higher expressions of striping. Maybe it is Confusion on top of Blackhead and that’s what is causing a different pattern. I think that’s the most likely ID.

It has yet to go through its second shed, when Dreamsicles really pull in their deep colors. I haven’t even sexed it yet because I wanted to minimize stress to get it feeding. I’ll definitely hold it back and one day we’ll solve the mystery.

Killer Dreams!

I love them both! The high white one is mix of white and pattern. And the high pattern one is a perfect example of what pied does to the pattern and how it distorts it. The killer dreams are breathtaking.

Thanks Riley!

I think I prefer the smaller one with more pattern. It’s a little bit more defined, they’re both really cool though!
