Black night investment

I’m trying to start my own black night linebreeding, and I saw one that is willing to trade for ball pythons. Now, these are what are up for trade.

And these are their parents

this is the father, probably a bit light as maybe it was stressed

this is his pic when he was younger

and this is the mother

after how many generations of line / selective breeding, will i get a quality black night?

this is also an up for trade

with an info of

our deal is i trade him a pied (i dont have any pied in the moment, but im waiting for my het pied to lay), and he’s gonna trade one hatchling of my choice, and the black night bandit cross. is that fair? cause im not sure if i want the bandit cross.

another question is, the pinkish hatchling, what will it look like when it grows up into adulthood?

I can’t help with the morph/linebreeding part - but I’d be worried about giving animals to, or receiving animals from, a breeder that has cage conditions piled with feces and such small conditions, so I would maybe consider that side of things as well

If those are in fact the geckos’ enclosures, I would recommend not pursuing that transaction.

If you’re serious about breeding – and breeding should be approached very seriously – that warrants seeking out quality animals and paying what they’re worth. Unfortunately, trade deals very often motivate transactions done for the convenience of the situation, rather than by what’s best for the animals and the project.

You might think about starting with a couple more straightforward projects, as well – some simple morph breeding. That will give some useful insight into the sorts of factors that will be in play in a more critical way in the line breeding project (the subtler points of planning pairings, multigenerational inbreeding effects, etc).

Hope this helps.

I agree with everyone on heavily considering the trade, the enclosure conditions for those Leos is abysmal :frowning:

And this isn’t solely coming from an ethical standpoint… If they are kept in those conditions and only the breeder knows how long they’ve been like that, they could have a lot more going on under the surface…

I personally do not think its worth it at all.
