Black Throat Monitor Babies

Why can’t I find a baby Black Throat Monitor these days?

Could be because of the pandemic affecting things or possibly your location if you are looking for some locally. Here in California they are not super common but I could find some if I looked but I have noticed certain species are particularly hard to find now a days so more than anything I suspect it is the world events affecting animals selling and being imported and exported. A close friend of mine has a black throat monitor that he got as a baby and it is now nearly adult sized. I’ll see if I can get some pictures.

I’m not very big on tegus or monitors knowledge wise but I wonder what the major differences are between white and black throat monitors are. Perhaps OP could get a white throat as a close enough substitute?

They are two subspecies of the same species. I believe black-throated monitors are larger, and there are color/pattern differences between the two.
