If i understand correctly, a black pastel + pastel = black pewter. Black pastel + cinnamon = 8 ball. Please correct me if im wrong. BP and cinnamon are in the same complex but not pastel. Is it possible to have a black pewter, cinnamon or an 8 ball, pastel?
You are correct.
Blk pastel + pastel = black pewter
Cinnamon + pastel = pewter
You can still have a pastel, Blk pastel, cinnamon. But if you breed that snake to say a normal the offspring would be the following because of the allelic combo:
Cinnamon
Blk pastel
Pastel cinnamon
Pastel Blk pastel
You would never have a normal offspring because the 8 ball would pass one of those genes to each offspring. To make another 8 ball or super you would need to have another copy in the other parent.
That said … Super cinnys, super Blk pastels and the combo can have some gnarly kinks and facial deformities as an issue with the mutation
Here’s a photo of my super cinny pastel (silver bullet).
I bought for the BP mainly. When i bought her i was told she was a cinnamon black pewter mystic. Any input?
Well… She can’t be cinnamon AND Blk pastel because then she would look like mine, a silvery snake with some black and yellow freckling.
You could have her tested for black pastel or Barnhart black pastel (2 different mutations but almost impossible to differentiate from one another) but there isn’t a test for cinnamon yet.
You can also have her shed tested for mystic, but honestly I’m not seeing it. If it’s low expression then maybe… But the pattern definitely looks more like a typical Blk/pewter and not something carrying a BEL gene as well.
