I was wondering what information should be on a breeders certificate. As of now i have used a pre-made layout from a Swedish reptile forum, but i would like to make my own. Any examples of a good layout?
Parents/morphs of them. And morph of bab. Any lineage. Sex and weight you sold at…
What it’s eating…
That sounds good!
So when it comes to the parents morphs, what exact morphs would you say they are? I don’t think i have enough knowledge yet to list them correctly.
I would guess the male is orange base full pinstripe with possible emptyback.
And the female dark base flame or harlequin dalmation.
I don’t really have a template because I just write everything out by hand on an index card (feels more personal to me that way) but this is the info I always include:
- animal ID and morph
- lay date
- hatch date
- pairing (parents names and ID)
- one generation back lineage on parents
- sex (or unsexed a lot of times if they’re small)
- weight
- if they have any favorite food flavors
- if they have a favorite type of bug (I feed crickets, dubias, and silkworms)
And then aside from that, just little personality notes or other tidbits.
As for yours, dad looks like a yellow pinstripe (possible phantom? I’m not good at IDing that) and mom is a dark base flame with dal spots.
Orange pinstripe Dalmation for dad and Harley pin dash Dalmation for mum.
The male has some light coloring on the sides, what is that called?
And since they produced a phantom baby, does that mean that both parent carry the phantom gene?
And lastly, if they end up producing a red baby, does that mean that the female carries the red base gene?
That’s the Harley markings
What phantom bab?
If a red is made it means there’s red in one or both of their lines yeah.
Could be the pic… But dad looks to have FTS
Baby is also a Dalmatian, I expect all babies from this pairing will be Dalmatian
What is FTS?
Floppy tail syndrome. Looks only slightly though.
Means they have been hanging their tail wrong from being the wrong way round. Can be a serious condition of not corrected.
I have one Gecko here that literally spent his time upsidedown no matter what I tried. He eventually got the idea that I wouldn’t let him lay that way. So luckily my gecko only has it slightly
It shows a dip in the lower back (spine) then the tail curves up
He was about to jump in the picture so he curved his back, but i will take some more pictures of him later when he is awake
I have never seen him hanging the wrong way.
If you get another pic, post it and we can let you know. Hopefully he hasn’t got it and he was just been awkward
I’m not a crestie person but I would say yes, he has a mild case of FTS
Yes, looks as though it’s mild. Just be sure the tail isn’t hanging over his body, plus that is sleeping upright then shouldn’t get worse. You may need to add more climbing options
I had a Gecko that slept on the underneath of leaves it took forever to get him out of the habit
Does that mean that i shouldn’t breed him?
Males are usually ok, but any females not to be bred with it.
Agreed, males with mild FTS are usually okay to breed, but females with FTS is a no no
Okay, good to know
