I have two BIs and I was wondering if anyone has bred a 7foot3 male with a 5foot2 female? All I’ve seen so far trying to find something similar is males around the same size as the female or the female being larger. My male is 10 and my female is 5.
I haven’t worked with boas but with other species it generally isn’t much of an issue. The worst of it is making sure there’s no major stress reaction going on or watching for potential cannibal risk. But that’s pretty normal things to watch for the other way around as well.
I have had a few larger BP males breed smaller females. But if the female is trying to run after introducing them I will remove the male and try again later. When they’re receptive they aren’t prone to running.
Although I’m a bit confused with the 2 different sizes you’re asking about. Why 7’3" male when yours is 10? Or is that ages? The age difference shouldn’t matter
He’s 10 years old and 7 foot 3 whereas she’s 5 and 5foot2
Thank you!!
I have used bigger males with smaller females. Just make sure she is not stressed with the male being with her.
Also, in my opinion, females should be a minimum of 15 lbs. Most of my females are 20 lbs +. Females that are less than 15 lbs. have a good chance of dying. Being gravid takes a lot out of females.
I breed one smaller female only 12+ lbs many years ago, and she had a healthy litter. But she died from an infection. She ripped her uterus, giving birth. There were no signs of an infection until it was too late to help her. She seemed healthy and was eating. Then, about 1 1/2 to 2 months later, she passed away overnight. Her necaropsy showed she tore her uterus.
There was no way of knowing this. As it was all internal.
