Breeding for the first time ball pythons

Okay y’all so much first year breeding I’ve owned reptiles since I was 7 and now wanting to experience the breeding side of things, I paired my male ball python to my female yesterday for the first time and they have been locked up since yesterday evening and into today still locked, my question is once they unlock I will remove the male and offer them both food and once I give them a few days to digest do I put the male back in with her for another 2-3 days and keep repeating this cycle? Or since they have locked do I not put him back in with her?

If anyone can help with advise it’s much appreciated

You don’t need to breed them nearly that much once a month or so is more than adequate. I continue to feed through the entire process as long as they want to eat.

You don’t need to pair that frequently but you can. After a lock I usually wait a couple weeks. I’ve had success doing it as infrequently as once a month. Everyone does it different.

Okay thank y’all so much for your help, yea I just checked and there still locked been locked for about 14 hours, so once they unlock I’ll remove the male offer them both food and I’ll put the male back in with the female in 3 weeks

That’s a pretty neat pairing for real! I’m a big fan of lesser hra!

Thanks buddy yeah I’m super excited it’s my very first pairing, and all my recessive stuff like desert ghost and pied is all to small right now to breed

That’s awesome! I wish you good luck be sure to post pictures if you get a clutch from them. I plan on doing some Hra pairings this upcoming “season” as well. Doing a gargoyle pairing and a couple of hra super stripe/puma pairings hopefully lol.

Lesser hra comes out really nice. I imagine the banana would be cool too, probably get lots of speckling from the hra. Good luck!

Lesser hra yb really pops. I have a big female in that combo, so nice. It’s a nice balance of color and pattern, she’s a big adult girl and her pattern and color are still really sharp. Warm chocolaty glow right after shed with good red tones. I think you’re going to like the combo, you seem to favor the bright ones!:+1:

Actually I don’t lol I prefer darker morphs! But I’m super good at hatching super pastel lol. This my my hra breeder male. He is hra(green pastel line) pastel spark. He is super greenish in person definitely a fan lol

And I have done lesser spark hra clutches in the past with this guy! Definitely a fan of the combo.

Would love to see a picture of that gal!

See what I can do. She’s one of my more food aggressive girls and looks ready to pop, but still on feed so…:man_shrugging:

Lovely boy, I like the green tones, nice.

I feel your pain on the pastels, I’m actually trying to breed around some of mine, I feel like there might be too much. It works great in some applications, kinda not so much with others…

Very! Love the pattern on her! Super nice!

Yeah they locked up for 24 hours and man after removing the male the female has been absolutely on Food mode, fed her 2 days ago and she was still all over wanting food so I fed her 2 days later and she’s still wanting more, I’m obviously feeding her smaller meals but still she’s extremely food aggressive right now and she would take another rat right now, I just opened her bin and she was coming to fly out for more food and I just fed her a small rat 2 days ago

How often do u feed your females once they have bred? Because my girl is absolutely eating like a monster and I’ve fed her 3 times every other day and she’s still wanting food so should I offer her another small meal
