So I’m looking into breeding and have a male butter banana het clown. Any suggestions on what would pair well with him?
It all depends on what you want to get and what you are interested in.
Hello, welcome to the forum!
One of the top pieces of advice is usually to get a really, really good feel for what morphs/combos you REALLY love. If you breed even just 1 clutch for the experience, if you don’t love the morphs you have/produce, you may get bored looking at and caring for snakes that you liked (appearance-wise) at first but realized that you really really like so many other morphs much more. In this market, even if you weren’t planning on keeping any of the offspring it could take several months to find homes for them all.
I suggest hopping on the Morphmarket app or website and making a short list of the morphs and combos that you absolutely can’t get enough of. I’m not sure how familiar you are with the website, but if you aren’t, there are filters where you can specify maximum price you’re willing to pay, filter to just look at other listings that have the exact same genes as your current snake, etc. Plus you can search specifically for adult snakes so you get a general idea of how they will look once they get older, since sometimes the way they look as adults can be drastically different from the way they look as babies and juveniles.
Feel free to ask any further questions! And please post photos of your snake if you feel comfortable doing so. Everyone here loves to see pics of other keepers’ beautiful animals.
Examples of morphs/combo I LOVE personally (I currently have Pied and Freeway and Mahogany snakes in my very small collection)
Pied
Freeway
Banana combos, like Banana Pied
Stranger and other dark morphs like Super Mahogany or GHI Mojave
Clown
