Breeding Project Ideas

Hi all!
Its my first snake ever, more of emotional purchase - Female Spider Phantom het Albino.
For a male i have been thinking of Super Mojave, this way i have a chance to get pretty good looking Potion \ Passion.

Can you help with other variants?

If you do decide to look into albinos as a project, I would avoid mixing more BEL genes in as Albino BELs have a higher than normal risk of Bead Eye or microphthalmia.

But albino, phantom and black pastel could be a nice combo.

You can also maybe look at HI OD or GHI depending on if you want brighter or darker looks to the project.

Be careful with the Spider. I’m sure you’re already aware but Spiders are notorious for wobbling. I’d hope the baby you’re purchasing doesn’t have a severe wobble.

From what I’ve heard it is suggested that the wobble worsens in stressful environments/situations and is always present with the morphs that have the issue, no matter how mild and unnoticeable it may be. But with proper care and a stress-free environment the wobble can be greatly reduced. Of course I haven’t had extensive research or into this so I can’t say that is 100% what the wobble can and will be affected by, and since it is an issue that resides with their genetics and DNA there is no real way to fully get rid of it. Just advising to be careful with her!

Thanks for jumping in on that! Totally skipped over the spider part.
Definitely one to be careful mixing other spider complex genes with. Iirc, blackhead seems to be the only gene that plays nice and ‘masks’ the wobble, but can’t get rid of it. Any other combos, even if not lethal can end up with some nasty wobbles.

I don’t have any advice for you, but welcome to the community and congratulations on getting your first snake! We’d love to see pics once she’s settled in!

Thank you very much! Regarding spider - yes, i was warned about possible issues, and though my pet seems completely ok, i am still very careful with her stress and environment.

Thank you for your time!
I didn’t quite catch your first post about albino approach. I cant say that i was going into full albino, but you mean Passion\Potion are of albino line ? Can you please clear this out for me?

For the second post you recommend pairing with anything that has Black head? That is understandable.

Are there other chances of getting something similar to potion\passion\champagne out of this female? In terms of colorations, patterns

Champagne and spider are lethal. The babies will die in egg or soon after hatching. I do not recommend pairing a champagne to this snake at all.
Different genes in the spider complex can cause varying degrees of wobble or be lethal when combined together. The only gene that seems to play nice and have no noticeable issue when you combo to spider is blackhead.

Albino is not the same as BEL complex. But when a visual BEL is also pied or albino they can have eye issues. So I would be very careful if you decide to pair to an albino. The issue list just says super lesser albinos, but you can search the sales records on MorphMarket and see it affects a large number of BEL albinos

There’s a lot of work you need to do studying the genes before you breed. It’s not as easy as just pairing any of them together.

I would suggest looking through the morphipedia here for starters.

Next is your allelic morphs:

And then your morph issues:
