Hi all,
Does anyone here know how Camo is inherited in Whites tree frogs? I have seen some for sale local to me but they look just like regular young whites.
The seller tells me they change as they age. Is this the case? It seems very difficult to find any info on the wider internet.
Cheers!

From what I’ve seen on the sale’s page… When sold around 1.5-1.75 inch sizes they will have some good color already. If not they are ‘low expression’ meaning they carry the trait but does not really show up.
Iirc snowflakes improve with age… but I’d be very cautious buying a camo unless you speak to a breeder that works with them first.
If you do a search in whites tree frogs for camo and any availability, whatever has been sold here will clip up. Maybe try contacting the breeder? Or check on Instagram for a breeder working with them.

The breeder tells me they developed with age but I can’t find any evidence to support that. Was hoping someone here may have known…
Is this breeder the same seller you mentioned?
I contacted a breeder that posted some on insta. They said the opposite. There isn’t much development as they grow.
I haven’t tried contacting the breeder on MM about it… But there’s a lot of variety in expression in the same size. Some of the low expression is just on the toes and feet. And then some gorgeous camos on the higher expression all at 1.5in or so.
I’m a bit skeptical of the person you were talking with based on that. But I don’t work with WTF or know of any breeders otherwise

I had thought they likely behaved like Pied in other species: whatever patches they have wont change much as they grow out. It is such an uncommon mutation that I guess this sort of misinformation will hang around for a while.
Thank you for the help and the info.
