Chameleon lights?

I already have ball pythons but am branching into chameleons I was reading that red light isn’t the best for them? Are ceramic heaters better or what would someone recommend? I’m trying to get their tank right before they arrive. Thanks for any advice I’m so excited to branch into a new reptile area!

You don’t want heat emitters or red lights. You didn’t mention your chameleon species, but across the board, no night heat. Temperature fluctuation day/night is actually very good for them. An incandescent source of light should be used for heat during the day, for commonly kept species like panthers. Night temps for panthers can drop to 50, for veileds or jacksons it can go even lower (I bring mine in from outdoors when the forcast calls for temps below 40). Most keepers use outdoor terraria during the months of the year when night temps are in these ranges.

I will say I’m not a chameleon expert but my tortoise experience tells me that ceramic heaters are humidity killers.
