I just recently moved some animals into new enclosures over the weekend and have some enclosures now empty so I’ve been thinking about animal options again!
I really want to get more into amphibians, specifically frogs and have had a keen interest on tree frogs or similar.
The thing is that the only other amphibian I have kept was a Gulf-Coast toad that I raised from a teeny little toadlet fresh out of water for around a year and a half. I’m wondering how similar the general care is for them… I know that tree frogs will be more arboreal and space demanding and I will be looking into the needs of each species taken into consideration.
I have a 20gal tall enclosure with a deep bottom that can hold water and I plan to work something around that. It’ll be another tropical themed enclosure focused heavily on moss this time around as I’ve finally gotten the hang of getting moss to thrive in my enclosures
The 20gal will mostly be a grow-out enclosure and the future occupants will be moved into something larger once they outgrow the grow-out.
Oh what fun I know you are having! Tree frogs are really cool! You always come up with some inspiring enclosures! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! However I don’t think a tree frog will actually use the water? Or am I “All Wet”? . Sorry I couldn’t resist!!!
I have a pair of spadefoot toads that are about the size of a quarter each coming to me hopefully soon. I discovered “Frog Moss” recently! Of course my start out enclosure will not be as elaborate as yours but……
I was considering the water feature since I know my toad loves his, when he’s not in his burrow he’s swimming around lol.
I guess that would be more of a toad thing though… I feel inspired about the tree frog thing because during our rainy season this year we had a whole bunch of tree frogs around our house and I love seeing them around super cute big eyed frogs too!
Still just sitting on ideas for now but I think it’d be cool to add another terrarium and species to the collection, especially a species that I’d greatly enjoy watching when I can’t sleep at night when they are most active
