It depends on treatment, but I can say with certainty that the gecko will not make it if he is not seen and given a chance.

+1 to this. Vets can definitely be expensive, but if you don’t take him I’m pretty certain he WILL die. He may either way, but in the very least you can say you tried and if necessary give him a more comfortable leave via euthanization vs whatever is currently happening to him. That may come across grim, but I mean that with kindness.

I’m pretty sure this little one is not even going to make it long enough to get to a vet. In addition, having the funds to provide veterinary care for an animal should be established before even acquiring the animal. I realize things happen sometimes but this is really important……

I’m so incredibly sorry to hear that. Sadly reptiles can hide problems pretty well, and inattentiveness can lead to us missing the signs of it in critical times. Illness can be very sudden onset while we think they’re just hiding on us. I don’t say that to make you feel guilty, because I don’t know if you know what is was that killed him - if you have any veterinary explanation for what happened, I’d be interested to know. Reptiles can be so bad about letting us know when there’s a problem, they mask their pain so well.

Rest in peace to Pumpkin. You did the right thing, taking him to the E-Vet, I’m so sorry he didn’t make it. :C

So sorry for your loss :pensive: Did the vet say what it was? Never seen a gecko drool before, but i believe the most likely cause would be a RI, which, from my understanding, can go from barely noticeable to bad quickly. It’s easy to write off minor signs too.

Unfortunately a lot of geckos aren’t keen on watermelon I will say, which is why he probably never ate much also. Assuming you were misting etc 2/3 times a day? He looks slim also, so I assume not eaten for a while.

I’m sorry to hear that he didn’t make it, I unfortunately knew he was going once I saw the videos :disappointed:

Let this be a difficult lesson to always, always check on your pets at least once a day. Things can go wrong very quickly, especially for animals that hide it well when things do go wrong :frowning:
