What is going on with my baby!!!
I have videos but theyre too large - what do i do???
Please provide more info - fullbody pics of him would help as well. Is he just sitting there like that not moving? Gasping for air periodically? Does he usually tolerate being handled, or does he get grumpy and bite? Is he new or have you had him for some time? This could be a number of things, unfortunately these pictures alone don’t provide enough info.
If the videos are too large, you could try to cut them down to smaller file size, or upload the video to youtube and link it that way.
Sitting there and not moving. Opening his mouth and squacking occasionally. Ive had him for 2½ years. Pumpkin is great and chill with handling, but this is way too “chill”
Sliced them down a bunch
Hopefully someone with a better answer can respond to this, but with your description and the videos he needs vet care ASAP. Do you know how old he is?
You should also post your setup/parameters if you can, to help eliminate environmental factors as the cause. What have you been feeding him, and does he eat regularly/well?
@ghoulishcresties @autumngeckos Sorry to ping, just trying to get someone with more insight putting eyes on this!
Hes around 2 years old. I feed him watermelon pangea mix. I leave him food, but he never eats much. I’ll admit, i havent checked on him in a while, assuming he was fine and in his favorite hiding spots. Hes had the same setup for months
A friend told me to put some warmish wet papertowels and put them in a tupperware container, poke holes in the top for air. Praying this helps at least a little bit
Video didnt originally send - but this is definitely the most important one
I know flash is bad, but i needed to see what was going on
Has he had access to fresh water? Unless that’s the paper towels it looks like he has some stuck shed on his feet. But that’s a minor issue right now. He is definitely in distress and needs to be taken to a vet ASAP.
The gaping mouth could indicate a respiratory infection. If this is the case and since you have not checked on him in awhile the infection could be in an advanced stage.
Where is the hide located that you say he might have been staying in. Is his enclosure well ventilated? You need to provide his husbandry in detail and we need to see what his enclosure looks like.
@cmsreptiles Christina hopefully you see this tag soon. This little gecko is in some kind of distress it appears……
Indeed it is ![]()
This gecko appears extremely dehydrated judging by the sunken-in eyes and stuck shed around the toes and tail.
@remghoul you need to get this gecko to a veterinarian ASAP, there is no advice I can give that will reverse this gecko’s condition- the best you can do temporarily is get the gecko on moist paper towels.
I saw the videos, if your gecko is weak and doesn’t respond to stimulus it is in dire condition. Seeing the drooling may indicate a respiratory infection.
That is all I can say.
I’m not an expert on cresties but agree with Christina here. There are too many signs that this animal need to be seen by a vet for.
Lethargy and excessive drool is not good. But not responding to things is another layer of complexity.
The vid with the saliva? coming out of his mouth is a very bad sign in my opinion. This crested is a sick little guy……
How much do we think a vet visit could possibly cost? I dont have much and the nearest open vet is 30 minutes away
