Dewormer for mice and rats

I recently got some new female mice and I had them in quarantine. I noticed that one of them has tapeworms.

What suggestions are there to treat these? Ive gotten a few suggestions but I wanted to ask a few more thoughts before I try anything.

Im glad I had them separated now from my others. I would be treating the whole lot instead of just 3.

Are you sure they’re tapeworms? Because tapeworms also mean that there’s fleas involved. I’ve never had to treat rats for tapes so I actually don’t know if the medication used for it is rodent safe.

Tapeworms aren’t killed by the general panacur or pyrantel dewormer most people use.

Pretty sure. I was shocked too. Granted I got these three from Petco so I wouldnt be shocked either… if I could have found somewhere else to get some females I would have… but the next place was over an hour out ans wanted to charge me 25$ per female… would they likely not have any issuea? Sure… but I wasnt looking to pay 70 something for 3 mice…

Edit

Also apparently the mice can get tapeworms from beetles that can be in the feed. But theses were from petco so who knows… my other mice don’t have worms.

I mean… PetCo breeders have had issues in the past. I know one of their breeders that had issues with psittacosis and rat bite fever.

Apparently you can use droncit. But it’s one 30mg tablet per kg. So that’s super tough to dose out for a mouse…
