I have a ball python, is there any difference between a vivarium 200 and a vivarium 300 besides price?

The VE-300 has safety alarms and built-in day/night cycling control.

Yes but the key words are optional, not built in.
You need a separate component for the 200 if you want a night drop.

Jeez. That’s pretty ridiculous. I don’t think a ball python needs a night drop, but i maybe wrong

Ball pythons do not need a nighttime temp drop. I’m only aware of a few species who really need one, though some people still like to program one to try to mimic a natural environment more closely.
Sometimes you’ll end up with a nighttime drop even if you don’t program one into your thermostat, if your reptile room just gets significantly cooler at night.
But yeah, I think your BP will be just fine with the thermostat that lacks that feature.
