Egg bound? Please help

Hello, I need help on what approach to do, I think my leopard gecko is egg bound. These are her pictures

I think she is egg bound, before I got her, she laid 2 eggs on May 4, 2025, then was introduced to a male at May 8, 2025. I got her at May 9, 2025, and has never dropped an egg until now. She took 2 superworms yesterday, and I cleaned her cloaca with a cotton bud soaked with hydrogen peroxide gently. There are no vets that treat reptiles in my area, I live in a 3rd world country. I have tried asking some of my local vets back then, when my red-eared slider got his shell broke (he’s okay now, he healed fine by himself), but unfortunately, every vet at my area is basically grounded to just cats and dogs. Any advice on what I should I do to help her pass them?

She looks to be in pretty poor condition. Deflated tail, visible spine. Please do not use hydrogen peroxide, it is not good for the tissues, especially sensitive mucous membranes. You’ll want betadine or chlorhexidine. Without a vet I’m not sure there’s much to be done. Perhaps @armiyana may have some suggestions?

Besides looking up things on here maybe u can call vets that do treat them and they might give u some advice on what to do as well im not sure if they will but my local just had me send pictures before he wanted to see my snake

Oof. Yeah she’s definitely not the best condition for breeding. Has she been eating for you prior to this?

She definitely has something going on besides being eggbound. A healthy laying female should not have fecal matter like that or a visible spine. Even my girls that layed 12 eggs a season wouldn’t be that thin at the spine and after 12 eggs the tail would look that way.

It looks as though she may have 2 sets of eggs or she’s possibly impacted as well. Has she been housed alone currently and has she had normal stools or only these white mostly urate passings? Dragging her body to get waste stuck on her that way also makes me concerned that she’s low on calcium.

if you have a local breeder ask who they see for veterinary care. Maybe they know someone :crossed_fingers:

In the meantime, make sure she’s kept alone with a moist hide box for laying, if she’s feeling threatened by another gecko or having trouble feeling safe that may help.
If a store nearby has Pedialyte or some other type of clear electrolyte liquid for babies you can try mixing a bit of calcium powder into it and use an eyedropper to get her to drink a bit of it.
You can give her a lukewarm bath as well. Make sure it’s not too hot. 85 is the most you would want temp wise. Let her move around a bit but make sure she’s not left alone and gets too tired. You want to aim for a little higher than belly height but not covering her body.
Try to keep her to smaller sized prey. Larger super worms can have harder skin so use fresh molted ones or smaller ones so they’re easier to digest. Just in case she does have some digestion issues as well.

Other than that there’s not a whole lot of advice I could give.

Yes she has been eating good when I got her until a couple of weeks passed, so I assumed that she was gonna lay anytime soon, but couple of weeks passed, still none, then checked her enclosure, idk if it was urate, but it was big, not like ball shaped, but more like deflated or shriveled up, but something long and white, sorry I do not have any pictures. Yes, she is housed alone, she had normal stools when I got her, and it was around mid june, where she started to have gooey white stools or discharge, with a hint of green sometimes. I’ll be asking around here, I won’t get my hopes up too high as majority do self-treatment themselves, due to the lack of exotic vets, especially on how strict the regulations are on exotic animal keeping. Thank you for the advice, I’ll give her first a lukewarm soak, I was debating with myself if I was gonna do that, as I read a response on a topic here in morphmarket where the water may enter the cloaca and do some more damage. Thank you tho, I’ll find an electrolyte liquid in the meantime. Thank you, I hope she pushes through with this.
