Hey guys!
I had one of my female ball pythons lay April 6 so that makes today day 61 for the eggs. Eight pearly whites!
Anyways, 5 of the eggs are very dimpled, like, aren’t they getting uncomfortable in there?
I’m really asking, what was your guys longest vs. shortest hatch time for your clutches?
It doesn’t have to be just ball pythons either.
My last two clutches hatch at 71 days (my fault! I was incubating at a lower temp than I thought!)
Here’s a pic of mama for tax

Need the “too dang high” meme for this one only low. What temp you incubating at? 71 days is forever.

Lol! We sure do!
I mistakenly had been incubating at 85F last time, but the current clutch is at 88.6°

Gonna have to wait for a patient person to weigh in, I would be cutting at day 60 if they were collapsed.

If you’re not going to be around for a couple days, then you can cut as a just in case they can’t pip measure.
I’d usually wait for the first pip to happen though. Should be any time now.
I cut mine at 60 last year cause we were going away for the weekend. It was a good plan because one baby was definitely small and probably wouldn’t have made it out without us.

65 days to pip for me was the longest but I incubate a bit cooler than standard
How mush cooler to get 71 days, and what was your success rate

Oh this is a good idea! I’ll keep it in mind if I’m ever leaving eggs that are close to hatching!

It’s was 85° last year. It was 14 eggs in total, all hatched successfully and were healthy.

yes cooler does not seem to be a problem, some people here go down to 82.5 / 28C and recommend it for health
I think the hotter temperature recommendations are just to get faster hatchlings, and not essential.
I had 100% with cooler temps.

I do incubate around 84 f, and I think my eggs take around 65-70 days max

I typically incubate at about 87 degrees and my typical hatch date is 60 to 63 days.

At 88.6 I would think they’d be piped already, the dimples and deformation is completely normal right before hatching. Like others have suggested I would cut now. The easiest cutting method ti use is the pinch method with scissors, you will not have to get nervous about hitting a baby, also leaves a nice slit! I do 88.2-88.5 and cut on day 58 If the first hasn’t piped yet. Good luck with your clutch!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for answering and giving their thoughts and opinions!
I decided to make a small cut in all of the eggs using the pinch method with scissors.
All of the babies are responding to touch and all look very healthy from what I can tell.
It was a real mental battle deciding if I wanted to do this or not.
Again, thank you all!

I am so glad they all look good! Now you don’t need to worry and they will come out whenever they decide to.
