Heya! I’m here looking for any tips that you guys may have
About 8b months ago my green red tailed rat snake escaped and I have yet to find him.
So I’d like some advice if possible.
Here’s what we’ve already done;
Placed mice with chopped up organs
Placed water
Placed hides with humidity, heat and of course darkness
Misted the outside of the escape tunnel
Placed mice bedding
…
Any help is amazing. And if you have any stories I’d snakes escaping for longer, please do tell!

Hey! 8 months is a long time, but I’ve heard stories of other rat snakes, corn snakes mostly, being recovered after longer. Whatever that snake’s breeding season is where you’re located will be its time of peak activity, probably. I don’t know that species. Watch free roaming pets and what interests them. Good luck!

lost my rat snake a few years ago. i found him a few months ago… so happy and healthy in the wild. i couldnt bring myself to put him back into captivity. heres the before and after pics.
(dont worry, the tub he was in for that photo was NOT his enclosure.)

i strongly advise you to check outdoors every-now-and-then. especially with rat/corn snakes and the little escape artists they are.

Oh my goodness! That’s amazing you found him after so long! He’s a really good looking rat!!! That’s so kind of you that you returned him to the wild. He certainly took good care of himself!
