Before about a week ago, my crested gecko would only eat crickets, which was kinda annoying because I was always hearing the cricket noises and having to go to the reptile store a lot to buy crickets, but I finally got him eating pangea! I know this because I’m seeing very obvious drops in the level of food in the cup, and even lick marks. I know this is kind of a stupid thing to make a whole topic about, but it’s very exciting for me.
My boy corpse was like that. I stopped feeding him crickets and only put Pangea in, took a while but he got the hint
Finally getting a picky reptile to accept new types of food is like the greatest achievement in the universe! Ok, that’s slight hyperbole, but I know that, every time it has finally happened for me, I have been over the moon.
When I got my girl Taffy (a leopard gecko) to accept Grub Pie off tongs, after her having been raised as a mealworm-grazer, I felt like The Ultimate Gecko Master, hehe.
No no, it really is!! Gigi my aft wouldn’t touch food but wax worms! Took months for her to even try something else. Now she eats anything
Congrats, it’s a great feeling knowing that the time and effort you put in, really works
Well done to you and your Crestie
Yay! This is exciting!
Just wait…pretty soon half your kitchen counter will be a CGD mixing station.
This does mean less runs to the pet store, but more difficult ones, because the only place nearby that sells the flavor he likes in 30 minutes away and only open in week days. Still a lot easier though.
Amazon! Chewy may have some too. You can get a sampler pack directly from Pangea.
I buy most of the CGD online
Quick update, before I only saw a reduction in amount of food, so I was about 99% sure he was eating, but I just caught him actually eating the food!
That is good !
That’s really good news, I find it so much more comforting to actually see them eat
I’ll second this. There’s nothing more anxiety inducing for me than having someone whose a picky eater or just decides they are going on a starvation diet till who knows when. I love seeing my babies (and other peoples’ eat). Currently have a very handsome leopard gecko whose decided he needs to lose a bit (I’m in disagreement) he’s already a very svelte boy. Thankfully there’s no change on the scale but he does this from time to time and it puts me in a panic.
