Excluded traits no longer being excluded

Summary of the issue

When I select traits to be excluded they are still showing up on the list. I just noticed this today. When searching ball pythons I excluded butter, lesser, blue eyed leucistic and het red axanthic, among other morphs, and ads listing those morphs were visible on the very first page. I also noticed for the first time that entire complexes were available to exclude so maybe something went wrong with this update?

Expected results

When I excluded the traits, I had expected my results to not include them

Actual results

Animals with the traits I had excluded were appearing in the results

When did you first notice it?

Today

Steps to reproduce

Exclude traits and run a search. I specifically noticed it happen with het red axanthic, butter, lesser and blue eyed leucistic but other morphs may be affected

This may be happening because people may include both Lesser and Butter together in the morphs since they are confirmed to be genetically similar through shed testing.

And what combo of Blue Eye Lucy are you trying to exclude?

I’m excluding both. I ran the search without blocking either, and a lesser combo popped up. I blocked lesser, and it still showed, I then blocked butter, it was still there. I clicked the ad, and it was tagged as lesser.
MM has apparently rolled out new trait categories, one of them is a generic blue eyed leucy instead of needing to go through all of the different variants. It is this type that I excluded.

Please can you run this exact search again, and share the URL here?

That should show us exactly what is being applied in the filters.

I also noticed for the first time that entire complexes were available to exclude so maybe something went wrong with this update?

Correct, a new update has been released that makes “compound searches” possible.

A few examples:

And so on.

I am using the app, and don’t know how to share a search from there, but i did just run a new search just now. I took note of some morphs that appeared on the first page, and blocked some as a test. I blocked lesser, butter, spider and cinnamon. All of the listings that i noted with those traits are still there on the first page. I saved this search under the name ‘error test’ so if you know how I can generate a link for it I can post it here.

All of the animals that I am seeing are combos, is it possible that in the update, only ‘exact match’ animals are now being blocked? So if i block lessers, for example, its only removing single gene lessers from the results, and lesser combos are unaffected? Or if I am running a block on multiple traits, it’s only removing listings from the results which are a combo of all those traits, like the inverse of the ‘included traits’ function?

Can I ask anyone reading this to try it themselves to see if it’s replicated elsewhere? Just open ball python listings, see what traits are included in the first page of results, exclude a few of them and see if they are still there or have been excluded as expected.

I also should note that I’ve only tried this with ball pythons, but it may well be affecting other morph heavy categories as well like hognose or corn snakes.

It now appears this issue has been solved, traits are now getting excluded from results as expected.
