The two older gals are ones I produced 2 seasons ago. Their parents are from the same breeder and distantly related to the new little gal I purchased.
Genetics can be so interesting. I’m waiting for results on this first girl. She and her sister are from the following pairing:
Male: Citrus pastel, enchi, Mojave, special, het Orange Ghost
Female: coral glow, Mojave, fire, het orange ghost
It’s a bit overcast in SoCal today so I was able to bring them outside and not have all of our eyes getting upset. She’s a pretty little yellow wash over white. Her facial markings say crystal, but she really doesn’t have a distinct crystal pattern on her. I’m waiting for pastel and fire testing to be available. In the meantime she’s being tested for hypo, enchi, special and Mojave on the RGI ‘pick 4’ special.
Her sister already has her results from a hypo test. I’m left scratching my head a bit though. I was sure she was going to test as a het Orange Ghost if anything. She’s dark lavender at her darkest. And sure enough after I got the results and took another look at her, she did get a couple little dark purple freckles on her last shed. She’s visual Orange Ghost.
I’m now left wondering if I should see about enchi because of the darkness on her pattern. I honestly thought special fire because of her blushing and the headstamp.
She’s also squirmy and hated staying still for photos.
And then my newest little gal.
She’s gorgeous and photos don’t do her justice. She has beautiful steely colored eyes and such a pretty orange color with that burnt orange blushing. Her aunt is the same morph and they look identical. Except her aunt is 100% het Orange Ghost. This 50% OG gal tested negative.
She’s still a beautiful Cinnamon, enchi, Mojave, HI OD, fire. I was just surprised that she had tested negative and the Coral Glow tested visual. Hahah
I’ll definitely post the updates on the bigger gal once her results come in.
I just thought it was an interesting result on these two other gals. Has anyone else had a twist like this or just something be unexpectedly different than what you thought?
I’d love to see them
