Fb40 new plastic smell

Hello friends just bought my first FB40 New plastic tub. I have cleaned them out with some soap and lots of water multiple times. I installed the rack and put the covers on the tubs. My plan was to use it for a week without animals to test everything. The thing is when I open the tubs there is a small but noticeable (if I put my nose inside) smell of plastic. Is this normal? What should I do? I asked CHATGP and it says it might be degassing of the plastic.

Is it safe to put my ball pythons in?

Degassing of plastic is normal, its a sign of a fresh new product which is good in your case.

I get it with new Sterilite bins even after a wash, I just let them air out for a day and make sure they are well ventilated when the animal is put in. Never had any issues, but I also don’t use that specific type of bin/rack system… I don’t imagine its going to be harmful though as long as ventilation is plenty.

Why wouldn’t you use that type of rack or system?

Thanks for the help I was just worried and wanted to be 100% sure it was safe

Its not that I wouldn’t, I actually look forward to upgrading to some more decent racks in the future

I just don’t currently use them.

Degassing of plastic is normal, like cmsreptiles said. Should be ok to use. My new cages from ARS had the same smell and my boas all did fine in them. Put my boas in them the same day I got them home after I cleaned them good.
