Hey all, new to Blood Pythons but not snakes.
We got our girl in October, and have never once been successful at feeding her.
Shes 137grams currently, usually I will try to give her frozen thawed every 4 to 5 days for around 4 weeks before giving up and then bring her back to my exotic shop where she will take a fresh killed hopper mouse from the breeder.
Then we start the process of trying to get her to take a frozen thawed on her next feeding.
Ive tried bringing a fresh killed home from the shop but she wont take it unless its killed in front of her.
Husbandry: 40 gallon black pvc, 78 degrees F on the cool side, 84 degrees basking area, 60-70% humidty only ranging due to running the heater during cold months. Bioactive with about 4-5 hides.
Currently shes at week 4 with no food and im trying to debate on what to do here. Keep holding out in hopes that she folds? Take her back to get another fresh killed in her?
Really a frustrating process as you could imagine and im at my witts end with solutions, ive tried leaving the hopper in there overnight tons of times, no luck, and she wont strike on tongs unless its a freshly killed “within minutes”.
Please help.
