Feeding locusts for a leopard gecko

Hi . I have a tank of locusts that feed to my leopard …can i use apple’s to feed them or is there a better vegetable or fruit to use

Welcome

I feed my locusts a variety of foods such as
Kale
Romain lettuce
Cabbage
Carrots
Apples
Strawberries
Raspberries
Grapes

I believe their are a lot of suitable fruit & veg available, these are just easily accessible foods in our house.

I believe variety is a great diet, just make sure it’s suitable for your reptile too.

Welcome to the forum!

Locusts aren’t commonly fed in the USA (where I am), so I don’t have any personal experience with them. But I’d imagine they’d be kept like other feeders- a balanced diet to keep them healthy most of the time, with a gut-loading diet ~12/24 hours before being fed off? For a regular diet I imagine a variety of fruits and veggies would be fine. You’ll want to change what you gutload with to make it something more nutritious for your leos than just apples. You’ll need to take steps to ensure a proper calcium:phosphorus balance of 2:1, either via the gutloading diet and/or via powder supplement shaken over the locusts immediately before feeding.
