Zinnia’s story is all finished! I won’t spoil it for those who would like to watch the video when it comes out, but it’s a very happy ending. ![]()
seems to have been a very amazing ending. I had a feeling this was going to happen and I am so happy to have been right.
@inspirationexotics Snake Discovery just posted a video about St. Louis NARBC, Zinnia has a brief cameo in it and she looks wonderful. ![]()
the shirt! look at the shirt!
LOL, I just realized that Kayla re-adopted Zinnia…
That feels a bit weird with this thread, but still glad she looks so good.
I get that originally the relinquishment happened, but still…Less of an adoption and more of a rescue funded operation now. lol.
Still not a bad thing but a little weird to word it as an adoption…
I just know someone who works with primarily hospice cases for dogs that does a lot of funding this way for animal needs and emergency procedures. It’s never really worded as an adoption unless it actually is a new pet parent. It’s still something that every rescue needs support for and a great way to use fan support.
I did re-adopt her. Normally it’s not something they would allow to happen (because normally an animal is surrendered completely and they don’t want people to think that they can just drop off animals for free vet care and then take them back) so for that reason they decided to just classify it as an adoption and not share that I was her original owner. Folks here will know of course, as will people who follow me on IG, but I completely understand them wanting to not make it look like you can just surrender an animal for medical care and get it back.
I wasn’t originally intending to adopt her back, I expected her to find a new home, but a very sweet patron of theirs offered to pay her adoption fee so she could come back to me.
They still have another video that will come out all about her with more of her story! Keep your eyes open for that one!
I’m always happy when a story has a happy ending like this. I will say, it’s nice to see she’s going to a good home of course. I contemplated reaching out when I saw her posted for sale on morphmarket as a “pet only” animal. So glad she was able to get the care and help she needed!
Well imho and at the end of the day, a fee was paid, an animal was “re-adopted” and everyone went home happy.
A hundred years from now it’s not going to make any difference anyway. ![]()
When I messaged you after the Adoptathon stream I was really hoping this would be the outcome, so glad to see she’s back with you to live out her days as a beloved pet! I understand the framing in the video, it would likely cause a few issues if people thought they could just do the same. You did everything right for her, it’s a fitting end to her story that someone would sponsor her adoption to get her back home. Here’s to many happy, healthy years together for you both. ![]()
I am really thrilled. It was incredibly kind of that person to offer to pay the fee so she could come back to me - when I dropped her off I thought I would never see her again, either because she would die in surgery or because she’d be adopted to a new home where I would have no contact. So I’m overjoyed to have her back in my care. She will be a well loved education and program animal, and incidentally, we’ve both had a similar surgery (she was spayed, I had my tubes removed) so we are like two peas in a pod in more ways than one.
I would still be careful as you can both still have issues after either surgery.
If a bit of ovarian tissue was missed, she can still develop follicles. Hoping that that isn’t the case though! SD seems to have a great reptile vet.
And having tubes removed still can result in pregnancy too.
I did post an updated reel about her and the situation today on my Instagram! ![]()
Of course I have to be at a diving/swim meet ![]()
Yes, her full video is out! I am so glad she made it through surgery, so thankful to Emily and Ed (and bobbiscrittercave, the person who offered to pay her adoption fee so she could come back to me). She seems to be in fantastic health and I can’t wait to start up educational programs again after the winter. I really did expect to have to euthanize her and I’m so glad she’s healthy.
Just watched her video! That’s so awesome that she did so well with surgery and was able to come home to you at the end of it all. She’s a beautiful girl, I can only imagine how good it must feel to have her healthy and back with you. ![]()
Random question but what is she het for?
I bought her as sugar/calico poss het clown. Doesn’t matter now ![]()
Also @noodlehaus thank you so much for your comments on the video! I’ve of course seen a few accusing me of being irresponsible and as much as I would love to explain and educate, I can’t with the way the video was filmed, so I appreciate you popping in there occasionally. ![]()
