Fire gene question

I know in the past I saw some discussion about the fire gene having a patch of white scales under their chin. Has this been proven or is it even a thing anymore

I’ve heard of this, but I have a snake I noticed this on the other day while taking pics. It’s an Amber Mandarin Belly 50% Het Leopard, so maybe the chin coloration might be a marker for the Fire gene, but doesn’t seem to be definitive.

I am not sure I would trust that theory. I have owned lots of boas over my 50 years of owning them. Some of the boas have had white scale patches under the chin. This is even before the PD boa / Fire boa was first introduced. I have even had dumeril boas with it.
