Hey all. This is for an adult male ball python. I have a bigger enclosure for the first time (PVC, glass windows, 4x2x2 - 120x60x60 cms). I set up a ceramic heat emitter (60 W) but it only keeps its area on the top around 32 C (it’s even set up without a thermostat atm just to see what its full capacities are). The ground below it is about 22 C. I placed an object in the middle and it stays at 28 C. The cool side of the enclosure is 21 C in turn. Almost all of the ventilation is covered atm too. So, how could I heighten the temps of the whole enclosure in a way that also doesn’t produce such a high gradient and that keeps up with the recommended temps overall?
P.S.: My question is about the air temps so heat mats wouldn’t solve the issue. And I’d like to avoid such anyway if possible. I have a DHE I could experiment to heighten local temps but that still won’t solve the air temps issues.

You’re gonna need a higher wattage, my tank is smaller and i need a 150w incandescent to get the correct temps. Back when i used a CHE it was also a 150w im pretty sure. It’s gonna differ slightly from setup to setup, but yeah 60w is definitely too low.

I have a Dubia 4 x 2 x 2 enclosure. I use a 100W deep heat projector, with a dimming thermostat. Temps are right where they need to be. That’s all I use for heat. The top is covered with hvac tape to help with humidity. I also have an Arcadia led bar for the plants.
