Hello,
Hobby breeder here, my first clutch was to a banana pied and heterozygous pied.
I was hoping someone could help me with identification of these morphs.
It looks like highway or freeway, shed testing may be my next step.
How long have you had the female? If you got her at 2yo she could have been paired to a male earlier by the breeder in case she didn’t sell. So retained sperm is a possibility.
I would agree with the others. This appears to be a retained sperm situation. It does look like there is some yellow belly complex gene in the mix In addition to champagne in that first baby. It could’ve been a situation where the breeder was going to a show, and to save space bagged up another animal with that female, thinking she was too young to breed. It may not have been nefarious in Intention, but the fact remains that that banana pied male is not the father.
Also, just to make sure there’s no confusion.
The male posted IS a banana pied. It’s a little hard to see if there is another gene (possibly the YB?) in that male…but there is no champagne in the male you have.
OMG! I feel so stupid. I got this one as a baby and it was labeled as a female. This is the dad isn’t it? This is a Champagne, Yellow belly, Enchi, possibly Aura.
That looks like the culprit. Sorry you ended up with 2 boys.
I think many owners have one that ends up being sexed wrong. Mine was a simple pastel years ago.
