First Snake heating Question

So dumb first snake owner question. I’ve seen that Kingsnakes like my Mexican Black need a warm spot of 90 degrees. Obviously just setting his thermostat to 90 isn’t going to achieve that right cause it’ll have substrate over the position of the probe. Do y’all set it higher or is that usually sufficient

Btw this is my second best friend Alister. I’m legally obligated to only acknowledge him as my second best because my wife claims it’s in our marriage documents that she has to be my #1. Tho I do love them both quite a lot.

When setting a thermostat you are setting it on whatever temperature will allow you to achieve desirable/optimal temps inside your enclosure.
