First Time Snake Mom/Grandma

I never thought I’d want a reptile. Then my kids (12&10) tried to convince me for a decade that snakes are amazing. I hate to be a cliche but they started me on Snake Discovery and I was enchanted. BUT I researched and was totally convinced corn snakes were such a better way to go than hog noses. (But OMG—hognoses are so cute).

I literally looked and looked but kept falling short in my search because so many breeders think the snake’s personality is irrelevant.

Kudos to Caryl @Brighthope Snakes. She is one of the few breeders that know the snakes.

So introducing Himmie (a pink boy snake so Himalayan Salt and “him” for boy”). Three weeks in our care, pinker than the pics and just as described.

I would love to see Himmie! I have 2 more coming from Caryl next week so this will make 5 total she has sent me. I’m tellin ya right now, you will want more from her because she knows her animals and the quality shows. @caryl Caryl and I have become good friends even though we have never met in person. I promise you she will stand by her animals and help you out as much as she can with any and all questions……

Congratulations on your first snake. You definitely made the right choice to go with a corn as opposed to a hog because hogs can be a bit difficult at first to get them eating consistently. Corns on the other hand are great eaters as I am sure you already know! I’m excited for you!:clap:

Edit to add: The 2 next week that I receive from Caryl will make 6 from her, not 5! :joy:

Welcome, beautiful little fellow you’ve got from someone who knows their stuff! I also noticed your post had some extra code preventing the photos from displaying, so I fixed it real quick for you.

Welcome! Isn’t Caryl wonderful? I just recently purchased my first snake from her as well for the same reason!

Is Himmie a RF strawberry granite by chance? He looks a lot like Noodle (RF strawberry granite masque). Maybe we have clutch mates??

Welcome to the community, @lifeoffire! It’s wonderful to see Himmie the handsome here!! And gosh, I’m blushing as pink as Himmie from all the kind compliments! Thanks, everyone, very much. Coming from you people, who I know love and understand your animals like I do mine, it means a lot.

Hoggies are adorable, but I totally agree that you made a wise choice in going with a wonderful corn snake as a first reptile. You’re in for years of delight.

Yes, @hb24, your Noodle and Himmie are clutchmates, and both RF Strawberry Granites. @caron has one from this clutch too, her Ulrich. Of course I’m keeping a few. I guess that makes us all some kind of extended family? Lol
