Fix Hole in PVC Enclosure

I was drilling a hole in my enclosure to pass cords through, but the drill slipped and now it’s too big and looks hideous. What can I fill/patch this with? I have no idea where to start.

Couple of ideas here. How about getting a rubber grommet that the cord will pass through? You may need to drill out the hole a bit but it would give a finished look. Also, you could get an epoxy and completely fill the hole, sand down flush and redrill through the epoxy.

You use some black silicon if you want. Another option would be getting something like this cable port

If it isn’t too unsightly a piece of cardboard rolled around the wire. Cut a strip the same width or a bit wider than the thickness of the cage wall and wrap it around so it’s a bit too big and press it in.
A grommet or silicon would be nicer to look at though.

I would go buy a small piece of HDPE. You can get it on amazon. It is far less toxic than PVC. You can either replace that entire panel with this stuff or make a patch. If the latter, you could simple screw a larger piece over the damaged section and cut out what you need (don’t slip this time.) Drill it off the piece when it is well secured. With any repair, use a file to remove any potentially sharp edges. With any leftover HDPE, you could make a nice hide- if you are handy. I hot weld the material as it does not accept most glues very well.

Otherwise, on a budget you could just throw a cheap plastic type plug in there and put a picture over it on the outside. If you can’t HIDE it, HIGHLIGHT IT as they say. I have done this with various projects around the house that get compliments…like my mirror that cracked so I covered matching sections in simple, real walnut veneer.
