VPI 66% pos het Carbon
Hypo Stillwater/Miami Axanthic “Ghost” Bull Snakes
Male
Female
Aha I finally get to add one!
Pesto literally less than a minute post-shed, caught him peeling the final bit off as I was doing my nightly checkups ![]()
Now I get to send his shed off to RGI for testing ![]()
He’s beautiful!
He’s a snowglow, so sunglow plus anery! I love his eyes, too, and you can baaaarely see the jungle topline color. I’m sure he’ll get pretty yellow as he gets bigger, and it may get more obvious. He’s my biggest drama queen currently. When I handle him, he tends to hiss incessently at his feeders when I try to offer from the tongs. He takes them when I leave them in his tub, though. Will have to see how he handles feeding this week, I hope he’ll start outgrowing that. He’s stiff and breathes fast when handling, but zero defensive behaviors when I have him out. Only when I offer food, even a week later.
If I don’t handle between feeds, he will take from the tongs without theatrics.
Also, I love Pesto! I take it some sort of clown combo?
@eorr53 Amazing trio of black and white snakes! I love how the carbon seems to be impacting that VPI even in het form! Carbons are really winning my heart. Is carbon just VPI plus whichever anery strain it uses? Or was there something else to it?
Yeah the contrast it appears to be creating is pretty striking. I think it is also influencing the pattern and causing the connected/fractured saddles.
Carbon is the same gene (at least compatible with) as RDR Black Eye Anery, but a different line that has a lot of pastel influence. There are some crazy colorful het carbon animals out there. The visual VPI Carbon Snows tend to have a more white base color and darker saddles/markings than the VPI RDR BEA (Specter) stuff I have seen.
Y’alls snakes are so pretty!

@ccboas I like your naming theme lol. Kanda (D. Gray Man reference?
) has to be one of the most ethereal boas I’ve seen, so funny that he’s so fussy about feeding lmao!
@eorr53 Such gorgeous animals, those bulls are absolute rippers! The contrast is so cool!
@cmsreptiles About time!
Pesto is such a pretty boy, thank you for sharing him with us!
@eorr53 Interesting on the pattern influence! I have seen a lot of the carbon VPI stuff doing the same, now that you mention it. And so carbon is a single gene, a line of RDR BEA? I see so many VPI carbons I assumed VPI was involved. haha Oh yeah, specters are nice too, I forgot they were related. I saw some stuff detailing it from Boaffliciton iirc in the past but clearly not much has stuck. But both specters and carbons are quite tempting to add to the collection. ![]()
@emfraise Yes, Kanda from D. Gray Man! I absolutely loved that show as a teen, and rewatched it recently. I love using anime references for my boas, but I will use any TV show, movie, or book reference I feel fits them. Especially if I’m currently watching something. lol And yes, he’s my fanciest boa and also my most dramatic. lmao
She was actually produced by Kenny at boaffliction. So carbon and rdr bea are likely the same the gene, just different lines. They have proved to be compatible with each other. They do produce slightly different looks IMO.
Thanks! I love those two. It’s looking like the male is going to be a daddy this season. I am waiting for a female Hypo Stillwater 66% het Axanthic to lay. It should be any day now. If she proves het for axanthic, we’ll get more “Ghost” combos.
Fresh and clean and all so handsome! I love seeing all the different looks and learning a bit about all the personalities. ![]()
Another shedder over here - Kimball, 0.1 GHI Pastave!
Not the best pics as I didn’t want to fuss with her too much while cleaning her post-shed “relief”, here’s hoping this was her pre-lay shed! She definitely ovulated as I noticed her swell way up before she went into blue about 10 days ago. I unforunately am a lost cause when it comes to palpating for follicles/eggs though, and although she’s giving me other good signs (such as refusing food since February despite being a good eater) I just can’t seem to tell for sure. The pic doesn’t show it well, but when I hold her upper body and let her lower half dangle it does look to still have a bit more girth to it. I guess I’ll just have to keep a close eye over the next month or so!
Ironically since you were talking about @eorr53’s poss het Carbon Boa, Pesto is a Clown possible Carbon (incomplete-dominant gene in BPs).
Getting him shed tested to rule out anything else since he is an oddball, his mom was a supposed single gene Clown but she looks very different from Pesto, his dad is a Leopard Butter het Clown.
Fingers crossed for lots and lots of egg surprises!!! ![]()

She’s such a pretty friend! I think I’m going to fall in love ![]()
Good luck on the testing! He does look different from a regular clown for sure.
Another gorgeous animal, I really love how much pink is coming through on the head! ![]()
Thanks! These pics really do him no justice. This site has an uncanny ability to wipe out color in pictures.
Amazing chestnut-y color!
