Hello there. My garg layed the two eggs in the middle of this picture about 86 days ago. I have them in Pangea hatch. Things have been pregressing fine. 3 days ago a wet spot which I assumed was a pip developed on the end of each egg and I was sure they were about to hatch. But nothing since then. I just had to clean some mold off of them. They still smell and feel fine. Next steps?
I will defer to any gargoyle gecko breeders who come in after me, but the general rule for any species is, “Incubate until there’s no debate.”
Thanks. I did just rewet the Pangea hatch. Despite the hygrometer reading Hi several people on Facebook said it should not look so dry
Hopefully that gets things moving and you have some wonderful little babies soon!
I only have experience with cresties, but afaik it’s pretty much the same - Cresties and gargoyles both hatch pretty much as soon as they pip, at the very least they’ll stick their head out. So if there’s a pip, but no gecko within a few minutes, it’s unfortunately most likely bad news. Sweating, and especially mould has in my experience always been a bad sign, but i have heard some anecdotes about sweating happening just before hatching. So like Noodlehaus said, always incubate til there’s no debate, just in case, crossing my fingers that you’ll get some babies soon!
