How can you tell the difference between male and female milk snakes?

I believe for most colubrids, males have a much longer tail with a bulge after the cloaca (where the hemis are stored), then the tail tapers pretty quickly. Females have short tails after the cloaca with no bulge and pretty gradual tapering.
At least this works with hoggies, bulls, etc, but I could be wrong and Iād love if someone more experienced could chip in!
Probing is the most accurate but tail length can also be used somewhat accurately.

Both of the above mentioned ways can give you an idea, however if you want something more definitive, you can purchase a colubrid DNA sex test on the main MorphMarket site and send in a shed to RGI.
