Bought as a normal but wanted 2nd opinions pictures don’t do her justice. She is super dark but the brown spots almost look like a Carmel color.
@banereptiles @akmorphs @armiyana
I am going back and forth with this one but extremely nice looking.
Looks like a dinker normal
I am going to say a barker normal. What was the paring?
I am in agreement with everyone here. I am not seeing het. Pied tracks, but it could be het. For some recessive morph making it a little different looking. I would call it a black back, not because of the darker color, but because of a lot of the dorsal not having pattern. Black backs have some proven genetic morphs such as het. Red axanthic, but it looks like the type of dinker, polygenic type to me. Meaning it may pass on a look similar to this in its offspring or might night, not any kind of incomplete dominant or recessive type morph in my opinion. Interesting looking snake though!
Yeah, nothing really standing out to me but does look unique!
Very cool looking snake
Unfortunately I have no clue, bought from a pet store, or should I say rescued from a pet store. She had damaged scales, stuck shed all kinds of things, now she is %100 better
Awwwww. I am so glad you have her in your possession now! She is very unusual and a really unique looking BP! Some of those yellow patches are super bright!
Lol! I am going to tell on myself but I was thinking before I saw any of the opinion replies that maybe she has some mahogany genes. Don’t laugh @logar Logan! I’m just not that bright with morphs!
But I think @sinisterpythons that you have a very sweet looking girl there!
Congratulations on a great pet store find!
She’s about to go in shed, thinking of doing a shed test but I wonder if it will be okay on her substrate? Seems Everytime she sheds it gets really dirty and I’d hate to waste $120
Well you could change her to paper towels temporarily unless
it would be too much trouble……
Looks like what I’ve always called granite. Normals have what we’ve been calling alien head patterns on the sides. Anything with increased dark speckling within those alien heads I just refer to as granite. I realize that term is now thrown around to describe a lot of different things these days. Animals I have representing the orange ghost line of hypo have a lot of what I think of as “old school granite” floating around in it.
All of these are orange ghost line hypo stock
Granite het hypo
Granite pinstripe het hypo
Granite hypo
Hypo
At this point I assume every ball python is at least 2% het pied until proven otherwise.
No joke.
I did a pairing for an import.
Pairing was Nyala Spotnose het Clown pos Sugar x Butter het Clown
Threw out some ringers on two of my snakes. I sent the shed tests in because I wanted to know which Nyalas from the clutch were het clown or not. Wrote on one of my shed samples that [insert snake ID] had a ringer. The guy RAN a pied test for giggles and turned out POSITIVE.
I sent additional payment to run the remaining sheds for pied as well, and that’s how I found out my import male was a DH Clown Pied. Reached out to the importer to contact the breeder to see if pieds were in their records at all. Didn’t see any record of pied, sent a photo, of the pairing and the SIRE snake has the biggest FREAKING RINGER ever. I was like
That’s wild. My first clutch will be this upcoming year starting out simple with some albino pieds, I feel like I went down the wrong path getting into the pieds since they are so common but then again I’m truly not in this to try make crazy morphs and pieds are my favorite. Just wish I knew what this girl had in her she is just super super dark nothing like the other normal I got.
You could always send in her shed and do the full panel RGI offers
Yea I plan on doing that just gotta switch her over to paper towels before she sheds. Substrate now makes it way to dirty
