Happy World Snake Day!

I just found out that today is World Snake Day and I thought this would be a nice time to celebrate by sharing some of your favorite pictures of your snakes! I’m not able to keep any where I’m living (quite tragic, I know) but I enjoy living vicariously through the rest of you snake owners.

Happy World Snake Day. I will apologize now for the photo bombing. I have way too many favorite pictures from the past 48 years.

Happy World Snake Day! I can’t possibly pick a favorite picture (or a favorite snake!) so I’ll just share this one. It says it all!

Awwww.
I’m not at all sure that was what he meant at the time, but I like to think I’ve won him over.

Thanks. That’s Fortunato, who emerged from his tiny egg way too soon with his umbilicus still attached and much of his yolk still unabsorbed. I’m very happy to say that he is thriving, eating fuzzies now, and turned 1 year old on 17 July!

Seriously! I remember him! That’s uncanny that he was born a year ago today! He is such a little sweetie! Definitely a keeper!!!

Yeah, me too. The vast majority of the time I take out my snakes, I don’t take pictures. Usually I just want to relax and enjoy them without the stress of trying to get pictures and getting frustrated by a) my lack of photography skills, and b) the fact that my phone camera seems incapable of truly capturing their colours.

Plus my blood python is now too big and heavy for me to easily hold with one hand, which is why the only pics I have of her are with her in the enclosure. And my camera is the worst at picking up her true colours, so I’ve kind of given up on photographing her. I’d like to try to put together a simple lightbox at some point and see if that yields better results.

Thank you sir! He is a real ham. Very easy going and curious. Every time I handle him he comes right up to my face (or whoever is handling him) and gets real close, usually gives a boop and then carries on. Cracks my wife up.

Hopefully I’ll be able to produce as many stunning babies as you have.

The bulls are growing quickly and have already changed a lot from when they hatchlings. That being said, they still have a lot of growing left and I think a few them are still going to go through an even more dramatic ontogenic change. I’m here for it. Love those little coils of personality.
