Heating and husbandry

My boa will be here in the next couple days. I put a shelf under the heat panel with substrate on it and a hide on it. on top of the hide it’s 90. However underneath the shelf it’s 79 almost 80 and the cool side is 78 so technically there is a heat gradient and in the half log and under the turtle shell it’s a little cooler I do have vent holes drilled on the cool side on the end of the enclosure. My question is is this enough of a heat gradient? Any advice is greatly appreciated

That is what I use, so yes that temp gradient would be appropriate. May I ask what morph of boa you are getting, from one boa crazed person :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

He sounds gorgeous, I think blood and motley go great together.

Where do you guys have the temp probe? (A pic would be great.) I’m thinking about trying heat panels for some incoming boas and it seems there is some variance in how people position the probes.
