Heating Question for juvenile Dumeril's Boa

Hi all-

This is a lot, but if you are kind enough to read any of it and offer any suggestions, it would be much appreciated. I don’t expect one person to answer all these questions but I always am impressed by the wealth of incredible knowledge you all have and are willing to share.

I just built a nice 4x2x2, vented enclosure out of HDPE (similar to non-toxic cutting board material.) Problem is, it is clearly way too large for a 160g new Dum. Boa I am getting next week. I was hoping for some tips to make this work.

I ordered a smaller, food safe container- and lid (I will file any sharp edges.) I was thinking of adding some simple coconut husk, maybe a little top soil under that, a few rocks (washed and in my freezer now!), and sanitized leaf liter, then putting it inside the 4x2x2- drilling some holes in the lid. Glass water bowl. At some point should I leave the lid loose or partly open in case he feels brave?

What then about heat? I have a nice 75 watt halogen nearby, 6" down from the top. My substrate layer is 5.5" but nothing there yet. I am not sure how much overhead light would get through. I could also potentially buy a heat mat but it would have to go under the 1/2" HDPE…which sits on a desk. I would appreciate any suggestions please.

I also bought a Herpstat 2 SpyderWed- not even plugged in yet. I also have a large LED Jungle something 18" as I plan to do a semi-bioactive. Potted plants in terracotta. No clue which plants as the humidity needs to be relatively low. Maybe spyder plants? Not sure which CUC can survive to in the lower humid, Madagasar’ish environment.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!
