Heating tank

Newbie Here
Just got a baby Ball and she’s in a 25 gal tank for now. I’m using a CHE but I can’t get the temp up past 80. Need help please.

If the unregulated CHE doesn’t get the basking area to the desired temp, then it’s probably not powerful enough. Or the tank just isn’t holding in the heat. I would definitely put black slate sheets at the focal point of the CHE on the enclosure floor to absorb and retain heat, and to stabilize temps.

If the enclosure is glass with a mesh top this will absolutely be the case. They loose heat very quickly unfortunately…

Do you have a temperature probe? Where is the placement at?

Some measures I can reccomend is using the slate stone method that @deanaii brought up, and/or wrapping the outside of the enclosure with aluminum foil. Its just a temporary fix but it should help boost the temps until you can figure out whats going on and address it.

If the enclosure is glass it would be feasible imho to add an under tank heat mat to supplement the CHE……
