What’s up everyone, happy holidays! So I’m working a new pvc enclosure and I have been trying the VE( Vivarium electronics) heating panel I have for my first pvc enclosure but every I look it says out of stock. Does anyone know if they are still being produced. If there are not being produced, any recommendations? I hate switching brands when i know something works so I’m a little nervous about having to change brands. Just want to make sure i get the best setup for my BP. Thanks in advance! Happy Holidays!
You might have better luck going to your local Reptile shop, I was looking for them online too and everywhere was sold out. I ended up going to my Local reptile shop for substrate and they had a whole wall full of them. Maybe they get priority over online?
Good luck finding them.
If it helps…they work great! lol.
If you can’t find any VE panels, I recommend ProHeat panels. They are the nicest panels on the market. The purchase process is the sketchiest part, because it’s done by email and money order or card but the process is funky. That being said, i have purchased all of my panels from them and i have had no problems with them. They request you provide them information about the enclosure. The size, material it’s made of, where and on what type of flooring it is going to be on, the ambient temps in the room, and species going to be kept in the enclosure, if the enclosure will be a part of a stack, etc. Then they will hand pick a panel size and wattage that is ideal for your exact situation. This all but guarantees that the panel you get will be safe, yet sufficient for your exact needs.
Now, be that as it is, it’s good to remember that heat panels do nothing to provide all of the light rays that benefit reptiles as seen in more recent research. RHP’s are fantastic for ambient temp but the best for hotspot is a light emitting halogen or a BR bulb. Granted, that is less basic requirements to keep the animal alive and content. It is more reptile welfare based keeping, but if that sort of thing interests you then, it might be a good idea to look into it.
I have proheat rhps, and I’m going to be installing halogens. I’m still wrapping my head around Lux, but once i do I’ll probably end up buying LEDs or whatever i need to accomplish that.
